   Introduction:


COMAPS-MUSIC, Known as “Congolese music and Artist promotion Services”, Comaps is an African music business development agency based in East London and is one of the unique music businesses with a unique concept in the United Kingdom. Founded in 2002 the company focuses in assisting music entrepreneurs from the very early stage of their business journey. Comaps Music also work in partnership with Camps Promo a greater Manchester central affrican based music and cultural promotion and Camcas Cultural in the midlands.

Comaps-music promote, manage and develop Central African music culture and Artists in the UK. It was firstly established under the name of A.A MAPRO in 1998 by Aimé Aziza, an ex-Congolese session musician studying B.A Hons in commercial music at the University of Westminster in London. Having been a profession musician in the UK, and back in Congo-Kinshasa for a period of 15 years, he noticed a lack of such quality provisions for his growing community in London in the nineties and decided to set up an organisation which aimed to help his culture grow in the U.K and worldwide. In 2001, the organisation adopted a constitution and became fully established under the name of Comaps-music, then “ Company Limited by Guarantee” in 2005.

After a successful 5 years of Comaps-music’s operation, it has undoubtely improve the range, quality and marketing of Congolese music, and increase awareness of Central African music culture among a wider audience in the U.K. Comaps-music, has seen his community-based organisation flourish in recent years. Notable achievements include bringing together local London and U.K-based musicians with established oversea Congolese performers on tour , as well as staging the 1st Central African music and fashion festival at a big music venue in Hackney on the 15th October 2004.

Our mission is to bring together professional and experienced people from the music industry to help raise the profile and to expand the awareness of Central African music and musicians in the UK.

Comaps-music as an organization set up by musicians, posses the energy and passion to develop our music. We believe in its potential and want to promote it with other music styles in the U.K and Worldwide that will give the music the boost it deserves. This can then have a positive impact on UK urban culture as a whole. "There is no doubt we have made a lot of progress, (Aime Aziza). "We are currently the biggest organisation providing services and support to Central African music and artists in the UK."
The organisation generates some of its own income through Grants, tours, merchandising and sponsorship. With a sounder financial structure now in place, We see many new opportunities for growth. "As Comaps-music grows, so the next stage, will be to find new premises, and implement a volunteering network. Comaps also recognises the potential benefits of a successful London 2012 Olympic bid. "The Olympic Games will be a great way to promote a diverse range of cultural activities in London to people from all over the world," Aime Aziza. "Comaps-music will be one of those organisations willing to work hard for that celebration."

We have build up a management team of people with expertise in the music business and we have implemented a new marketing strategy driven by new technology and by working with other organisations in the U.K and Worldwide. We also organise free seminars and educational workshops about Central African music for people of all ages and background, and we set up and run training courses on the recording studio, music business, technology and performance etc.   We tend to increase the commercial appeal and develop professional careers of UK based and over-seas African musicians, through our professional expertises. Also improve the range, quality and marketing of Congolese music and cultural events to attract a wider audience and stimulate the existing audiences. This is to raise awareness and educate the general public about Central African music and culture.
